The Gardening Year, and how I can help...
Spring
The garden starts to come alive in the Spring time. The warmth of the sun encouraging everything to sprout. Now is the time to get ahead of the game managing the weeds.
To have a healthy garden, the soil needs to be cared for too. A good mulch on borders and large pots will add nutrients, ready for the growing season ahead.
Herbaceous perennials can have supports added now while there is space, enabling them to grow tall and strong, for a wonderful summer display.
Any gaps in the border can be filled with Summer flowering bulbs and tubers such as Dahlias.

Summer
Flowers are spilling out of borders by now, lawns are lush and green. The sun is shining and the garden is a welcome extension of the house to be enjoyed on a warm summer evening.
Bedding plants are thirsty in the summer sun, liquid feed will help them to thrive. Deadheading will encourage a continued production of flowers.

Autumn
As the days become shorter, growth slows, but this is the time for the trees to show off their best side with vibrant displays of leaf colour, like natures fireworks.
Lawns are starting to look tired, so now is the time to rake out all of the thatch, and feed them up ready for next year.
Autumn is a perfect time to add new shrubs to the borders, roots will be encouraged to grow vigorously in the warmth of the soil.
Spring flowering bulbs can be added now, and hardy bedding for Winter interest.

Winter
Dormancy and quiet prevail, a time for moving and adjusting existing spaces, and planning new areas.
Now is the time to be forward thinking. Anticipating the forthcoming season with the purchasing of seeds of bedding and vegetable plants, mulching flower borders to maintain soil health and pruning large shrubs, trees and some types of fruit.
General maintenance
Sometimes there is an area of the garden that just doesn't make any sense, or needs a little bit of tender loving care.
You may feel you need a little bit of guidance in the right direction to make your outside spaces relate well together.
With regular visits, these parts of your garden can be transformed into wonderful outside living spaces.
Or you may have a few plants that are in need of a neaten up or
re-generation. Older plants and shrubs often benefit from a little attention at the correct time of year.
